New Delhi: An Interpol notice was issued against the self-styled godman and rape accused Nithyananda on the request of Gujarat police, reports said.

The self-declared godman had fled India last year amid allegations of rape and sexual abuse. A blue-corner notice was issued to locate, identify or garner any information about the accused.

Reports said Nithyananda was often seen in videos making bizarre claims in sermons from undisclosed locations.

Ecuador has denied the presence of Nithyananda and said it had rejected his request for asylum. The Embassy of Ecuador also said the self-styled godman has left the country for Haiti.
