Bhubaneswar: A two-day film festival and photo exhibition to mark the International Day of Disabled Persons (IDDP) 2019 was inaugurated at IDCOL auditorium here on Monday.
The event has been organised by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability (SSEPD), Odisha. The programme was inaugurated by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of SSEPD department Bhashkar Jyoti Sharma and attended by Director Bratati Harichandan and other officials of the department.
Over 70 films and documentaries were selected for the festival. Seven feature films directed by renowned filmmakers were also included in the film festival. Films like I am Able, Swabhimaan, Urbashi, Attitude, Autowala, Deaf and Dumb, Do Before You Die, Lots of Love, Let’s Bicycle Together, Odisha’s Inner Eye and a number of other films were shown in the film festival.
Students of nearly 20 institutions and volunteers enjoyed the films based on the life and deed of differently-abled persons.
The photo exhibitions were based on different facets of the life and activities of differently-abled persons. The best three photos will be selected for prizes tomorrow.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the programme at Adivasi Exhibition Ground on Tuesday evening as chief guest, according to a press note issued by I&PR Dept, Odisha.
