Indonesia Open: HS Prannoy Storms Into Quarterfinals, Sameer Verma Loses In 2nd Round


New Delhi: Indian shuttler HS Prannoy stormed into the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament following a straight-game win over Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Sameer Verma’s campaign at the tournament ended after he lost to Lee Zii Jia in the second round. The 27-year-old went down 10-21 13-21 to sixth-seeded Lee.

On the other hand, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy also bowed out of the tournament after losing 16-21 13-21 to top seeds Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan of China in women’s doubles competition.

MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila will also take on China’s Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi.
