Jakarta: The death toll in Indonesia landslide has reached 32, officials said.
The tragic incident had occurred on New Year’s Eve. The death toll was released after a week-long search for missing victims, authorities said.
Rescuers said the search operation was hampered due to heavy rains which triggered the deadly slides in West Java province.
A number of people were injured in the December 31 disaster. Landslides are common in Indonesia which is a vast tropical archipelago prone to natural disasters and torrential downpours.
Reports said over 20 people died in October when flash floods and landslides hit several provinces on Sumatra island in western Indonesia.
Nearly 50 killed in flood and landslides in Central Java in June 2016,reports added.
