India’s COVID tally crosses 7.9 lakh, death toll at 21,604


New Delhi: With record single-day spike of 26,506 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours, India’s Coronavirus tally rises to 793,802.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 7,93,802, according to the latest update from the Union Health Ministry. This number includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll.

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 21,604.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 2,76,685, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 4,95,513 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

Amid a spurt in coronavirus cases, the government on Thursday said India has not yet reached the community transmission stage of COVID-19 and asserted that there have been localised outbreaks in some geographical areas.

Globally 12,232,745 people have been infected with the virus while 5,54,304 people have died due to it according to Johns Hopkins University tracker.
