Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Sakhalin island): India will receive S-400 air defence missile systems within 18 to 19 months, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.
India has decided to go ahead with the deal despite United States warning that it will have “serious implications” on defence ties between the two countries.
Borisov said that the defence missile systems will be delivered to India in strict accordance with the schedule. India had signed an air defence system deal worth USD 5 billion with Russia for the procurement of five S-400 systems in October last year.
Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had visited Moscow and discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
