India slams Pak at UN over destruction of Hindu temple

New Delhi: India has called out Pakistan for remaining silent on the issue of destruction of Hindu temple in Karak district in that country.

Historic Hindu temple was attacked and set on fire by a mob in the town of Karak in Pakistan in December 2020. India has accused the Imran Khan government of being a “mute spectators” while the historic temple was being demolished by Muslim fanatics.

At the United Nations, India gave this statement during the adoption of Resolution on Promoting a culture of peace and tolerance to safeguard religious sites.

India recalled shattering of iconic Bamyan Buddha by fundamentalists some years ago. It also cited terrorist bombing of Sikh gurudwara in Afghanistan where 25 worshipers were killed.

Media reports said local clerics gathered outside the holy shrine and gave incendiary speeches to incite mob to destroy the temple. Worthwhile to mention that every year hundreds of women and young girls from the minority community in Pakistan are forcefully converted to Islam.
