India settles for silver in Asian Team Snooker Championship


Doha: Indian team settled for the silver medal after losing to Pakistan 2-3 in the final of the Asian Team Snooker Championship in Doha on Saturday.

In the first set, Pankaj Advani lost to Babar Masih 2-110(81) points while Malkeet Singh defeated Muhammad Asif 81(52)-47 points in the second set. However, India had to settle for second position after losing to Pakistan 70-72 in the doubles.

India’s Pankaj Advani lost the first set after Pakistan’s Babar Masih ensured 81 break points. However, Malkeet Singh of the Indian troop restored the match with 52 break points winning over Mohammad Asif.

The turning point for the contingent came with the double pair Asif and Masih where Asif pull back 62-point deficit and allow his partner Masih to wrap up the frame with 70-72 point.

By framing 68-break points, Pankaj displayed his best foot but disheartened came after Malkeet was unable to pull the points.
