New Delhi: India on Friday reported 18,139 new coronavirus cases taking its tally to 1,04,13,417, as per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
On the other hand, 234 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours. While 1,00,37,398 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus so far, 1,50,570 persons have succumbed to the deadly virus in the country.
There are 2,25,449 active coronavirus cases in India, as per the Union Health Ministry.
Kerala reported the highest number of daily cases today with 5,051 infections taking the total tally in the state to almost 7.96 lakh.
Maharashtra was second with 3,729 daily cases. The state is the most affected due to the coronavirus and has over 19.58 lakh total cases.
Maharashtra also has the highest number of deaths with almost 50,000 fatalities so far.
Globally, the coronavirus has infected more than 8.8 crore people and killed over 18.97 lakh, according to the Johns Hopkins University. More than 4.9 crore people have recovered from the infection in the world.
