New Delhi: India added 9,121 new cases in 24 hours according to the health ministry’s update as of 8 a.m on February 16.
That’s lower than the 11,805 recoveries in the same period, taking active cases lower to 1.36 lakh. Authorities reported 81 deaths during the same time period, taking total fatalities to over 1.55 lakh. This accounts for 1.43% of the total 1.09 crore coronavirus cases detected in India. At the same time, 87,20,822 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far with over 4.3 lakh of these receiving their shots in the last 24 hours. India is currently focused on vaccinating its healthcare and frontline workers.
