India records 2.40 lakh new COVID cases

New Delhi: India on Sunday recorded 2,40,842 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 3,741 deaths due to the infection.

This is the least number of cases that the country has seen since 16 April and the seventh day when less than three lakh cases have been reported.

According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 3,55,102 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,34,25,467. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 2,65,30,132, with 28,05,399 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 2,99,266. A total of 19,50,04,184 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.
