New Delhi: A day after three Indian soldiers were killed and body of one of them was mutilated by Pakistan troops on the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday, the army carried out a massive counter assault using heavy mortar fire on Pakistani posts along LoC.
The armed forces launched crippling attacks on Pakistani posts in Poonch, Rajouri, Kel and Machil sectors. Earlier, Pakistan has violated ceasefire in Bhimber Gali, Krishna Ghati and Nowshera sectors of Kashmir.
Notably, on Tuesday Pak army killed two soldiers and beheaded one soldier near Jammu and Kashmir’s Machhal sector. This is the second such incident of mutilation of the body of an Indian soldier on the LoC since October 29.
While reacting to the incident, Indian Army warned Pakistan of strong retribution.
Last month, Mandeep Singh, a soldier was killed in an encounter along the border and his body was mutilated by terrorists. Meanwhile, the incident comes amid tension between India and Pakistan following the Indian Army’s surgical strike across the LoC in September this year.
Seventeen soldiers have died in increased ceasefire violations by Pakistan since India’s surgical strike.
