Rajkot: After captain Rohit Sharma’s blitzkrieg, India on Thursday broke the record for the most number of successful chases in T20I India broke the record for the most number of successful chases in T20I cricket.
India are now on top of the charts with 41 successful chases in just 61 T20I matches. The record was previously held by Australia, who have won 40 in 69 matches.
Former world champions and World No. 1 Pakistan are 3rd on the list with 36 wins from 67 matches while South Africa and England are joint-fourth with 28 wins each in run-chases.
It’s not surprising to see India’s dominance when it comes to chasing victories in T20I cricket. On Thursday, India were lucky as they won the toss in their must-win 2nd T20I. Captain Rohit Sharma did not have any second thoughts about India bowling first on a flat pitch at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
On the other hand, star batsman Rohit Sharma has scored 849 runs at an average of 30.32 in matches India won after fielding first.
Former captain MS Dhoni also has a phenomenal average in India’s successful run chases. In 29 matches, Dhoni has scored at 72.50 and an impressive strike rate of 142.15.
Ahead of the ongoing T20I series, Rohit Sharma had said India will focus on setting and defending targets, an area where they have failed miserably in the recent past.
