Rohit Sharma’s half-century and Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 40 helped India chase down the required target of 159 with 7 balls to spare. MS Dhoni also contributed an unbeaten 20 runs as the visitors chased down their target.
Krunal Pandya, who became the man of the match, ended the innings with 3/28. Krunal (3/28 in 4 overs) dismissed Colin Munro (12) and skipper Kane Williamson (20) to rattle the Kiwis.
Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed finished with 2/27 as the Indians were successful in stopping the hosts from building a big score.
Earlier, New Zealand had made Colin de Grandhomme top-scored for New Zealand with 50 runs as New Zealand managed to score 158/8. India started well with the ball after New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat, taking early wickets then being economical at the end of the innings.
