Mount Maunganui: Suryakumar Yadav’s sensational 111 not out off 51 balls helped India post 191/6 against New Zealand in the 2nd T20I.
Suryakumar completed his second century in T20Is as he slammed a 49-ball ton against New Zealand. He took 32 balls to reach his first fifty and completed the other in just 17 deliveries.
Two left-handers – Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant opened the innings for team India. Rishabh Pant smacked a boundary on the 2nd ball he faced but still managed only 6 runs off 13 balls before he was dismissed in the 6th over.
Ishan Kishan on the other hand started off cautiously but slowly got into the grove as he scored 36 runs in 31 balls with 5 fours & a six.
Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat at #3 and after a slow start, Suryakumar changed gears as he smashed the bowlers all around the park. Shreyas Iyer started his innings off with a boundary but was dismissed via hit wicket.
Meanwhile, Tim Southee also completed his hattrick, packing Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar in consecutive deliveries in the final over.
Earlier before the rain interruption, Rishabh Pant and Kishan kicked-off the proceedings after New Zealand opted to bowl. Pant departed for 6, while Kishan was dismissed on 36 shortly after play resumed.
