Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson led India’s charge after the Men In Blue were jolted with double blow inside the powerplay overs in the Malahide Cricket Club ground in Dublin on Sunday.
The pair added 71 runs for the third wicket before Benjamin White packed Sanju Samson for 40(26). Gaikwad went to complete his fifty before getting out to Barry McCarthy for 58(43).
Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal was packed for 18(11), and Tilak Varma’s dry run in Ireland continued, with the batter departing for 1(2).
On his T20 International debut, Rinku Singh added 38(21). Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube then run a bye in the final ball as India post a challenging 185/5 in 20 overs. Dube returned unbeaten on 22(16).
Ireland skipper Paul Stirling won the toss and opted to field in the second T20I against India at The Village, Dublin. Both sides have stuck to the same playing XI.
