Malkangiri: Normal life was severely affected in most parts of the Malkangiri district due to heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours.
Reportedly, water levels in several rivers surged and roads were flooded. Besides, vehicular communication to neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also been disrupted.
According to a report, a moderate spell of rains during the intervening night added to the woes because of already standing water.
Locals said that due to the rain their houses have been damaged and the waterlogged their rooms. As a result all household goods, as well as valuables, were damaged.
The water also ran into farmlands causing heavy damage to the crops. It has become a huge cause for worry for the farmers as they were already struggling to pay back the loan amount.
