New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the West Bengal government to implement ‘one nation-one ration card’ scheme immediately without any excuse.
As the scheme is meant for migrant workers, the state can’t give excuses at this time of coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, the Supre Court said.
“You cannot cite one or the other problem. This is for migrant workers,” the Supreme Court said in its order to the West Bengal government.
Notably, this scheme by the central govt enables people to access items distributed under the Public Distribution System using a single ration card. But Assam, Delhi, and West Bengal are only three states, who have not implemented the scheme by giving various excuses.
