IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Thunderstorm In Several Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed that several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm activities during the next 4 to 5 days.

The IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning and heatwave in several parts of the State.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur in the next 24 hours.

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, and Boudh during the same period.

The IMD has stated that the heat is tolerable for general public but slight health concern for vulnerable people (viz: infant, elderly and sick people). It has advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during day time(around 1100 IST1500 IST) in these areas.
