IMD Issues Very Heavy Rainfall Alert For Several Odisha Dists

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued very heavy rainfall warning for several districts of the State for the next three days.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to form over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts around September 20.

Under the influence, very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the State from September 19, 20 and 21.

Below is day-wise forecast:

September 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Puri (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Kendrapara (Yellow Warning).

September 20: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Nayagarh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh and Nuapada (Yellow Warning).

September 21: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir and Nuapada (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh (Yellow Warning).
