Bhubaneswar: Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange warning to six districts with a forecast of thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph, and heavy rainfall.
According to the IMD, during the next 24 hours, the aforementioned weather condition is very likely to prevail over Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Khurda districts.
Similarly, the IMD has issued Yellow warning for Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, and Ganjam districts.
“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over these districts,” the IMD stated.
Similar rainfall activity is very likely to occur in different parts of Odisha til May 29. No large change in Maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 3 days at many places over the districts of Odisha and a slight rise by 2 to 3 degrees thereafter at a few places over the districts of Odisha, the IMD added.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha & at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one place over the district of Dhenkanal of North Interior Odisha. Squall has reported at one place over the district of Jharsuguda in the Northeast Direction with the speed of 55.5 Kmph from 5:38 pm to 5:40 pm on Monday.
Maximum temperatures observed marked rise at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were below normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees was recorded at Titilagarh and Boudh and the lowest minimum temperature of 20.0 degrees was recorded at Keonjhar and Nayagarh.
