Bhubaneswar: Two leading institutions Institute of Life Sciences and All India Institute of Medical Sciences have signed a collaborative agreement for undertaking advanced research in the area of human health and welfare.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Ajay Parida, Director, ILS and Dr. B. Gitanjali, Director, AIIMS in presence of Prof. Subrat Acharya, President, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. The agreement envisages to strengthen collaboration in research, education and outreach. Faculties, scientists and students of both institutions will have access to scientific infrastructure, and will be trained on areas of specialization of both institutions.
Institute of Life Sciences is involved in basic and translational research in the area of cancer biology and infectious diseases will have beneficial partnership and inputs from the clinicians of AIIMS in designing and undertaking several research programs. The scientist from ILS and doctors from AIIMS will develop joint research proposals in the area of disease biology and particularly address diseases specific to and predominant in the region.
The agreement also envisages organizing joint seminars and workshops as well as policy dialogues or better health and disease management.
Dr. Parida and Dr. Geetanjali expressed the hope that the partnership will be mutually beneficial and in the coming days a mechanism will be put in place for promoting joint research initiatives between the institutions.
Dr. Subrat Acharya complemented both the directors for this initiative and suggested to include other institutions of Bhubaneswar in the partnership program. A similar agreement was also signed between IIMT and AIIMS. Dr. Suddhasatwa Basu, signed the agreement on behalf of IIMT.
