Illegal explosives trade: Four held in Bolangir


Bolangir: At least four persons were arrested by Tusura Police in Bolangir district on Sunday in connection with illegal illegal trading and transporting of explosives.

The arrestees identified as Nirab Galla, Sunil Bhatt, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay and Gajendra Chhatra were forwarded to court, informed SDPO Narayan Naik at a Press conference here.

The SDPO said a truck (TN-88-A-3144) while going to Titilagarh from Balangir was dashed by two vans from behind near Ratanpur, resulting in traffic jam on December 13 morning. The drivers of the vans  also picked up quarrel with the truck driver and even assaulted him.

On being informed police from the Deogaon outpost arrived at the spot and started inquiry into the situation, they found that the vans were loaded with explosives. During verification, 1,250 kg of power Geletine and 30,000 electrical detanotors were found.

The drivers could not produce valid documents for transporting the explosives.
