Idol immersion conflict : Violence resurfaces in Balasore as Section 144 imposed

Balasore: Yet another incident of violence erupting out as aftershocks of  group clash during idol immersion ceremony was witnessed in Balasore on Saturday forcing the district administration to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC.

Sources said as many as six persons have been detained on charges of involvement in violence in Bhujakhia – IOCL area as the administration has extended curfew all along the line for an indefinite period of time. Further course of action will be taken only after reviewing the situation on October 20, police said.

Earlier, some locals of Patrapada and Gabagaon villages under Soro block engaged in a scuffle on Wednesday night  during Durga Puja idol immersion ceremony leaving four persons from the former and one hailing from the latter injured.

Two cases have been registered at Chandipur PS while three cases have been filed at Town PS as three platoons of police forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident as the peace negotiations are underway.
