Bhubaneswar: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities will be set up in 19 district headquarters hospitals in the state by March 2020 while the remaining 11 districts will get the facilities by 2021.
The decision was taken in the first state-level meeting of the task force of the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).
Chairing the meeting, task force chairman and state health and family welfare secretary Pramod Meherda thoroughly discussed various health schemes being implemented in the state.
According to the decision at the meeting, the 10-bed geriatric ward will be extended to 13 more districts in the state. Now the facilities are available in eight districts. Similarly, two temporal bone laboratory will be set up in the ENT department of SCB Medical College and Hospital by the end of this financial year.
Training will be imparted to the medical officers and staff nurses and daycare chemotherapy will be provided to patients in all district headquarters hospital.
