Chennai: While the head of India’s armed forces, General Bipin Rawat, was among 13 people killed on Wednesday when the military helicopter they were travelling in crashed, Odia Jawan, Rana Pratap Das, a Junior Warrant Officer also lost his life in the tragic accident.
This has been informed by accident, his brother-in-law Sankalp Das through a tweet.
Hailing from Krushnachandrapur village under Kundala panchayat of Talcher area, Das, who was a Junior Warrant Officer in the IAF, had been serving the nation for the last 12 years.
Those killed in the chopper crash included Military Adviser to the Chief of Defence Staff Brig LS Lidder and staff officer Lt Col Harjinder Singh.

India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others were killed in a chopper crash near Ooty in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The chopper was heading to the Wellington defence establishment. While the last time a chopper crash involving a senior Army officer was in 1993, similar accidents have led to the deaths of several political leaders.
