I Love 2-Stroke Bikes: Dhoni

MS Dhoni loves bikes and spends a lot of time exploring them. In a light-hearted interaction with the Gulf Oil family, Dhoni opened up on his younger days with bikes and his love for two-stroke bikes.

“I’ve had lots of bike trips…not in the last 10-15 years but before I played for India. Biking is fun now but when we were growing up, it was a mode of transport. Sometimes when I play matches, it used to be out of the city.

“You’re visiting the next city which is close to Ranchi, so you will go on bike. That was a lot of fun. By the time you come back, you’ll be tired, you’ll be hungry. So, you’ll stop somewhere and have food. Not only for cricket games but also it became an outing. I have quite a few fond memories,” Dhoni said.

The four-time IPL winning captain further mentioned how spending more time with bikes made him a big fan of motorcycles.

“Actually, as I said, growing up, motorcycles in India were a mode of transport. And, I feel all of us when we are growing up, all of us have been on a bike. A lot of people, when I tell them that I love to ride a bike they tell me, it is not very safe.

“I am like, almost the whole of India moves on a bike. The major difference between a car and a bike is, whether it is your fault or not, if you are a part of an accident, you will get hurt. It has been a big part of all of us growing up. So, that is the story behind it. The more I spent time on the bike, the more I got closer to being a big fan of motorcycles.”

“When it comes to favourite bikes, I love old 2-stroke bikes because I feel they were very different. You don’t get many nowadays. I still love them because they give a different feel when you are riding it,” he added.
