Hyderabad cops nab serial killer targeting women from toddy compounds

Hyderabad: The city police have nabbed a serial killer targeting women from toddy compounds. The arrested person was identified as M Ramulu.

Police said he was arrested by North Zone Task force in connection with the murder of two women under Mulugu and Ghatkesar police station areas.

Ramulu was facing 21 cases including 16 cases of murder. Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said after murdering the women, he used to steal their valuables.

According to police, Ramulu took Venkatamma from the Yosufguda toddy compound on the pretext of buying her liquor. He later took her to a deserted place in Ghatkesar and bludgeoned her to death.

Similarly, he took another unidentified woman from the Balanagar toddy compound and took her to a deserted place in Japtha Singyapally village in Mulugu and strangled her after the woman was highly intoxicated. He strangled the victim using her sari and decamped with her silver ornaments, Kumar said
