Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar excise officials have seized a huge cache of illicit liquor in Balakati area and arrested a person in this connection.
The arrestee has been identified as Hemant Sahoo (35) of the same area.
Reportedly, the matter came to the fore after tension prevailed between two groups when a fight ensued over buying liquor.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested a person. However, the main mafias managed to escape from the spot. The cops also seized a huge cache of country-made and foreign liquor from his possession.
A case has been registered about the same and further investigation is underway in this regard.
Meanwhile, even after knowing about the illegal trade, cops and the excise official remains inactive after few raids in the area.
