Bhubaneswar: The Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, has instructed the Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) to allocate plots to the beneficiaries of the Vasudev Vihar scheme on the outskirts of the city at the earliest..
The grievance regarding the delay in the possession of developed housing plots within the scheme was lodged by the buyers, predominantly retired employees, with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Following their appeal to Mahapatra, OSHB received orders to expedite the process.
The OSHB, a government entity and leading housing authority in the state, has embarked on the Vasudev Vihar project to offer developed housing plots to various income groups, including MIG, LMIG, LIG, and EWS. The project, comprising 206 plots on leasehold government land in Jagannath Prasad mouza, Bhubaneswar, is available for self-financing or outright purchase.
Despite promises made in their brochure available on their website, the commitment remains unfulfilled.
Registered under ORERA with Registration No. RP/19/2021/00622, the project’s timeline spans 18 months from the allotment date as detailed in the allotment letter. The project includes 206 plots, distributed among MIG (74), LMIG (59), LIG (32), and EWS (41).
Grievances have also been submitted to the Honorable Chief Minister, the Secretary of HUD, and the Managing Director of OSHB, yet no action has been taken.
Work on the project, which proceeded smoothly under the previous government, has stalled due to errors by the town planning section in the plot layout plan.
Numerous retired government officials from both the state and central levels have invested their savings with the hope of constructing their dream homes in the capital. However, the authorities’ oversight has resulted in the current predicament.
