Bhubaneswar: Members of Opposition led by Narasingha Mishra created ruckus on the first day of Assembly’s winter session demanding the state government explanation on its helplessness regarding Malkangiri’s JE deaths. Following the pandemonium the House was adjourned till 3 pm.
Congress MLAs led by Mishra demanded discussion on the continuing deaths of children in Malkangiri and requested to cancel the Question Hour for the JE discussion but Speaker Niranjan Pujari denied following which the Opposition members raised a storm in the House. They rushed to the Speaker’s well and demanded the session to be suspended. The Opposition chief whip Tara Bahinipati even climbed a chair to shut the speaker’s mic. Speaker Pujari adjourned the House till 3 pm after which the first supplementary budget for 2016-17 will be placed.
Earlier, the Assembly session begun with a one minute silent prayer for the martyred soldiers and demise of political leaders following a condolence motion by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
