Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife offered prayers at Jagannath Temple in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on the occasion of annual Rath Yatra which began today morning.
The Union Home Minister along with his wife Sonal Shah took part in the ‘mangal aarti’ to start the 142nd annual Rath Yatra procession. The annual yatra will conclude at Shree Gundicha temple.
Shah also took to Twitter and posted photos of the rituals he attended.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra in Gujarat coincides with Rath Yatra in Odisha’s Puri.
Rath Yatra, also known as the ‘chariot festival’, marks the annual journey of the three deities The deities are placed in three giant wooden chariots which are pulled by devotees. The celebration will end with Bahuda Yatra or the return journey of the three deities back to their temple.
