Konark: Keeping in view of Covid restrictions, Holy dip rituals at Chandrabhaga beach will be observed without any devotees this year.

Meanwhile, only 500 people will be allowed to participate during the procession.

This has been informed by State minister Tusharkanti Behera.

While the coronavirus pandemic marred several festivities in 2020 and early 2021, usually Thousands of devotees take a holy dip at Chandrabhaga Beach near Konark on the occasion of Magha Saptami.

According to mythology, Samba, the son of Lord Krishna, was cured of leprosy by offering prayer to the Sun God at the Chandrabhaga beach. With this belief, the devotees take a holy dip on the seventh day of the new moon of the Odia month ‘Magha’  and perform rituals at the beach to rid them of the skin diseases.

Taking note of the expected massive congregation of the devotees, the step to limit pilgrims was adopted.
