Hiroshima: Indian women’s hockey striker Lalremsiami opted to stay on with the team for their knockout games at the FIH Series Finals in Hiroshima despite her father’s death on Saturday.
Lalremsiami’s father expired when India was heading to play a crucial semifinal at Hiroshima. Instead of staying with her family, Lalremsiami’ decided to be with her team to keep the team’s Olympic dream alive.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju shared the news on his Twitter handle today. This apart, the union minister praised the decision of the player.

The minister also congratulated the team as they advanced to the Final of the FIH Women’s Series Finals Hiroshima with a 4-2 win against Chile in the semi-final.
The Indian team will today play its final match against Japan.
