Bhopal: The Malegaon blast accused and BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) officer Hemant Karkare died as she had cursed him.
She said :“I called Hemant Karkare and asked him to let me go if there is no evidence. Karkare said he will bring evidence but will not leave me. I told him he will be ruined.”
It is noteworthy that Karkare was killed along with two other senior police officers while fighting terrorists during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai in November 2008.
Pragya Thakur is among the seven accused facing trial in Malegaon blast case.
Six people were killed and a dozen others were injured after a bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded in Malegaon in Maharashtra on September 29, 2008.
Thakur was cleared of charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in 2017. Thakur, however, remains an accused under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The Sadhvi formally joined BJP on Wednesday and will contest against Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal parliamentary constituency.
Thakur said after joining BJP:“After spending 10 years in jail due to Congress conspiracy, I have come here to fight the political and religious war”.
