New Delhi: The well-marked low pressure area has now seen as a low pressure area over southeast Pakistan and adjoining southwest Rajasthan, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Following this, heavy rainfall is predicted over extreme south peninsular and northeast India during the next five days.
Apart from this, heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim for a period between August 27 and August 30, 2022, it added.
As per IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level is south of its normal position and eastern end is near its normal position. A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.
Rainfall forecast:
Widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over North Interior Karnataka, Telangana on August 26, Coastal Andhra Pradesh on August 26 and 27 and over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on August 27, 28 and over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 27.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 27. Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Himachal Pradesh on August 28 and 29 and over Uttarakhand during August 27-30.
