Heavy Rainfall In Odisha For 5 days: SRC Asks Collectors To Stay Prepared

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked the Collectors of the stay prepared to tackle water-logging and monitor the situation closely as the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts Odisha for the next five days.

As per the special bulletin issued by IMD today, a cyclonic circulation between 3.6 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level lies over northwest Bay Of Bengal & neighbourhood. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal (BOB) by tomorrow.

Due to likely formation Of Low Pressure Area over North and adjoining West Central- BOB and strong monsoon current, strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely over West Central- BOB

Day 1 (Valid up to 08.30 HRS IST of 09.08.2020).

  • Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal and Koraput.

Day 2 (Valid From 08.30 Hrs IST Of 09.08.2020 Up To 08.30 Hrs IST Of 10.08.2020).

  • Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput, and Gajapati and also heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Rayagada, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Bolangir & Bargarh.

Day 3 (Valid From 08.30 Hrs IST Of 10.08.2020 Up Ro 08.30 Hrs IST Of 11.08.2020)

  • Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Bolangir, Nawamngpur & Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, with extremely heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nawarangpur & Koraput.
  • Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Rayagada & Nayagarh, Boudh, Gajapati, and Bargarh.

Day 4 (Valid From 08.30 Hrs IST Of 11.08.2020 Up To 08.30 Hrs IST Of 12.08.2020)

  • Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, And Nuapada.
  • Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and Sambalpur.

Day 5 (Valid From O8.30 Hrs IST Of L2.08.2020 Up To O8.30 Hrs IST Of 13.08.2020).

  • Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Boudh.

Weather Warning For Fishermen Of Odisha Coast: Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea area of West Central Bay Of Bengal.

The Collectors of these districts have been asked to closely monitor the situation, meet any water-logging or flood-like situation including in Urban Areas as heavy rainfall in Odisha is to continue for the next five days.
