Heavy Rainfall Alert For Odisha: SRC Asks Collectors To Monitor Situation

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm and rainfall activities till June 23. Following this, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today issued an advisory to the Collectors directing them to closely monitor the situation.

The SRC said: “As per the midday weather bulletin issued by IMD today, Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north Odisha and at a few places over the districts of south Odisha. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ja]Pur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur.”

The Collectors have been asked to take appropriate action in case of any eventuality.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal.

Fishermen Warning: Due to steep pressure gradient and strong monsoon flow, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 50 kmph very likely over north Bay of Bengal and adioining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of north Bay of Bengal and adjo]ning central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.
