Bhubaneswar: A thunder squall hit the capital of Odisha on Tuesday bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat and humidity.
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur till 8.30 am on Wednesday (June 19), the IMD said.
A similar warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj during the subsequent 24 hours.
On Thursday (June 20), a thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts. There is also a warning of heavy rainfall for Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi districts.
Heavy rainfall may also occur in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore on June 21 and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on June 22. Though there is no weather warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue at a few places across the state during the subsequent two days.
