Health Worker Held For Taking Bribe In Jharsuguda’s Rajpur CHC

Jharsuguda: Vigilance sleuths caught a health worker red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1500 at Rajpur Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jharsuguda district today.

The accused has been identified as Bharat Ghasi from the locality. He works as a health worker at Rajpur CHC.

According to available information, the accused used to charge Rs 1500 instead of Rs 11 from the people for issuing death certificate.

Reportedly, the matter came to fore after one Sarojini Kisan applied for his parents’ death certificate. However, Bharat refused to issue the certificate unless he was paid Rs 1500. With no option left, Sarojini lodged a complaint at the vigilance department.

On the basis of the complaint, the Vigilance raided the office and caught the health worker red-handed while accepting the bribe money from the complainant.

The raid was led by the Rourkela Vigilance DSP Dhirendra Kumar Nayak. The accused has been arrested and a case (2/21) registered under the relevant Sections of the IPC. He will be forwarded to the Vigilance court today, officials informed.
