Atlanta: Georgia has finished its statewide audit of the presidential race, confirming that President-elect Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump.
Georgia election officials released a report Thursday evening on the results of the hand tally recount of the presidential election, affirming Joe Biden’s lead in the state.
Biden beat Trump by 12,284 votes, according to the final results from the audit. This is a slight drop for Biden compared to the pre-audit results.
Shortly after the results were released, The Associated Press called Joe Biden as the winner of the state.
The AP called Biden the winner of the presidential race on Nov. 7.
The confirmation makes Biden the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the southern US state in almost three decades, despite his rival Donald Trump’s claims of fraud.
