Bhubaneswar: Private sector lender HDFC Bank on Thursday announced that it will restore and repair 20 government schools in cyclone Fani-hit Odisha.
The Mumbai-based lender informed that the restoration plan will cover repairs and refurbishment of school premises and restoration of sanitation facilities of government-run institutions in the cyclone-hit districts of Khurda, Puri and Cuttack.
HDFC Bank is also donating Rs 10 crore to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The 20 schools will be finalised in consultation with the state government following which the Bank’s local NGO partners will execute the restoration work.
Besides this, efforts by the HDFC Bank to restore banking services to normalcy is underway.
Notably, extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani made landfall in Odisha on May 3 that left a trail of devastation in the state.
