HC bench: Odisha Law department issues notice for transfer of cases to other courts

Bhubaneswar: The Law department has issued a notification regarding transfer of pending cases to other courts on the advice of Orissa High Court following lawyer’s strike in western Odisha districts.

As per the notification released by the state government, cases from Sambalpur will be transferred to Bargarh. Similarly, cases lodged in Bolangir will be transferred to Titlagarh and cases at JMFCs in Bolangir and Loisingha will be transferred to Saintala.

While cases at Deogarh will be shifted to Keonjhar, cases that were to be heard at Jharsuguda has been transferred to Sundargarh.

Earlier Orissa High Court directed the transfer of all cases from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Sambalpur benches to Orissa High Court.

Nearly, 70,000 cases are pending before State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).

The Orissa High Court in August rejected the plea for a stay on the abolition of the Odisha State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). Though the court did not give any ruling on the pending cases, it asked the central and the state governments to furnish a reply on this matter.
