New Delhi: Hariyali Teej also known as Shraavana Teej commemorates the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
It is observed in the northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Chandigarh. This year, the festival will be celebrated on July 31.
Hariyali Teej, also known as Choti Teej, and Madhusarva Teej is celebrated in the month of Shravan. It is believed that on this day, Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife in her 108 birth after she followed a strict fast for several years.
