GRS caught taking bribe in Subarnapur
Sambalpur: A Gram Rozgar Sahayak (GRS) posted at Singhijuba gram panchayat under Binka block in Subarnapur district was caught red-handed by Vigilance sleuths today while accepting a gratification of Rs 5000 for passing a PMAY work order.
The accused, identified as Amit Kumar Agarwal was caught for demanding and receiving bribe from one Satyananda Bhue of Sarguna village.
According to police, the complainant Bhue had requested the accused GRS to look after the construction of his house, which he had availed under Prime Minister Awas Yojana.
Though the construction of the house completed two months back, Agarwal did not prepare the bill despite several requests by the complainant.
However, Agarwal demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe for preparation of the bill and to send the same to the block office for payment. With no option left, Bhue reported the matter to the Vigilance and a trap was laid.
The Vigilance officials immediately seized the bribe money which he had kept in the office’s almirah after receiving it from the complainant today afternoon.
Later, the cops carried out a search on the rented house of Agarwal at Subarnapur Town.
A case (17/18) under Section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Agarwal, the police said, adding that he will be arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir.
