Group clash claims one life, injures four in Balasore


Balasore: One person was killed while four others were injured in a group clash over a petty issue in Sartha-Singla Bazar area of Balasore district. The deceased was identified as S Patra.                           

According to sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday when a group went to a shop and bought a cigarette. Later, the shopkeeper asked for Rs 3, the retail price of the product. Irked over no particular reason, the youths opposed the shopkeeper. The altercation turned ugly when the shopkeeper along with his brother and the youths thrashed each other with sticks.

Five persons sustained critical injuries in the clash and were immediately admitted to Balasore DHH. However, Patra was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his health conditions deteriorated where he succumbed to his injuries, sources said.

Palpable tension erupted in the area following the incident, sources added.
