Gram Rojgar Sevak arrested in Nabarangpur for acquiring disproportionate assets

Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths today arrested a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) in Nabarangpur district on charges of acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The accused was identified as Himanchal Bagh, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS), Singsari GP under Umerkote Block in Nabarangpur Dist.

On the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, the officers of Koraput Vigilance Division carried out simultaneous searches at his residential house in Umerkote, residential rented house at Umerkote and office room at Singsari GP under Umerkote Block.

In course of search and inventory, GRS Himanchal Bagh, was found in possession of assets worth Rs.63,86,072 including one single-storied building, two numbers of plots, one four-wheeler, one Auto, two numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different Banks, investment in Insurance policies, gold and silver ornaments, cash of over Rs.17 Lakhs and household articles,

After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Bagh were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.79,78,208/- (Rupees Seventy-nine Lakhs Seventy-eight Thousand Two Hundred Eight).

Koraput Vigilance PS registered a case (6/21) under Sections, 13(2) r/w, 13 (1) (b), under Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 and forwarded the accuses to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore which remanded him to jail custody till February 4, 2021.
