Govt Liquor Outlet Set Ablaze In Balasore, 7 Held

Balasore: Police have arrested at least seven persons for torching a government liquor outlet at Naichhanpur under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district on Sunday night.

According to reports, the owner of the liquor shop had built a house in the area for residential purposes. However, later he opened a liquor outlet. Following this, the villagers had protested it and the outlet had been closed for three months.

However, recently the owner approached the High Court and got permission to open it. Thereafter, the liquor outlet was opened in the presence of police and Bahanaga Tehsildar.

Later the villagers clashed with the police protesting against it. Irked over it, the women of the village protested again, ransacked the liquor shop, and allegedly set it on fire.

Following this, Police picked up seven persons in this connection.
