Puri: The Odisha government functionaries at the top level should intervene to resolve the deadlock between police-servitors at Srimandir, said Puri Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb.
Speaking to media persons, the Puri Gajapati said that nothing is more important than the rituals of the Holy Trinity and delay in the rituals is not acceptable.
Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb also appealed both the parties to hold talks and resolve the issue amicably as the ritual of the presiding deities should not be delayed.
In the meanwhile, Law Minister Pratap Jena told the media persons that the state government is keeping a tab on the situation at Srimandir. He said, “I am in touch with SJTA chief administrator and Puri Collector and I hope the issue gets resolved soon.”
On the other hand, Srimandir Managing Committee member, Ramchandra Das Mohapatra said, “The unruly situation in Srimandir is an outcome of brewing dissatisfaction among servitors.” The issue can be resolved amicably if the local MLA wants to, he added.
The tussle between a servitor and a police official at Srimandir last night intensified today after the servitors’ body closed the temple doors which subsequently triggered resentment among devotees.
Even after discussions with the district administration officials, the servitors are yet to begin the rituals since more than 10 hours have passed.
