Google Rolls Out Verified Calls Feature

New Delhi: Internet search giant Google has rolled out a new feature called ‘verified calls’. It will inform users about the incoming calls by asking businesses to provide certain information.

According to reports, the verified calls feature is different from call screening as the latter can be initiated by the user on any incoming call, however, the former needs to come from “businesses that have gone through Google’s approval process.

When a call that meets the criteria is placed from an approved business, the user will see the business name and logo, as well as the reason for the call.”

On its support page, Google said that verified calls feature is turned on by default. However, if users want to turn it off they can by opting out any time.

The support page also details how Google verifies calls from businesses. Before a business calls a user, it will send Google’s dedicated Verified Calls server its phone number, users’ phone number and the reason for calling such as “scheduling internet installation” or “food delivery.”
